OFCCN
has developed and grown from a taskforce funded by Child Care Action
campaign in 1993. With the purpose of filling the need for a statewide
family child care communication network, OFCCN has used many different
methods to gather the voices of family child care providers across Oregon.
OFCCN
has been non-profit 501c(3) organization since 1996 and worked with the "Forging
the Link-Essential Elements" project, the national MAP to Inclusive Child Care
project, and participated in local and national child care conferences.
During the first 5 year period, OFCCN worked to
inform providers about legislation that affected them, and also shared providers'
concerns with lawmakers and legislators.
Today, OFCCN is funded through the
Child Care Division. Current issues we're working on
are: Provider incentives and benefits; building communication between
family child care providers and childhood care and education partners; gathering
resources for providers, and addressing the business challenges and concerns providers
must deal with.
At OFCCN we are always working to be certain we're aware of the real-life concerns of family child care providers throughout
Oregon.
